A BILL to amend and reenact section two, article four, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to the state minimum salaries for public school teachers; and providing salary schedules for the next three years which include salary increases for each of the three years.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section two, article four, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.

§18A-4-2. State minimum salaries for teachers.

Effective the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred ninety-two ninety-four, and thereafter, each teacher shall receive the amount prescribed in the "state minimum salary schedule I" as set forth in this section, specific additional amounts prescribed in this section or article, and any countysupplement in effect in a county pursuant to section five-a of this article during the contract year.

Six hundred dollars shall be paid annually to each classroom teacher who has at least twenty years of teaching experience. Such payments shall be in addition to any amounts prescribed in the "state minimum salary schedule I", shall be paid in equal monthly installments, and shall be deemed a part of the state minimum salaries for teachers.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to establish salary schedules for public school teachers for the next three years which provide a salary increase for public school teachers in each of the next three years.
